Field of activity

Youth Employment and Vocational Training will begin in 2019 as a new bilateral project in Kenya. The objective of the commitment of Technical Cooperation is to improve the employability of young people by promoting practice-oriented vocational training with close involvement of the private sector. The project seeks to cooperate with companies and VET institutions to pilot demand-oriented training programs in selected occupations (automotive mechatronics, industrial mechatronics and body shop construction). The State Technical Training Institutions (TTIs) currently offer theoretical and practical training in technical professions.

Job Responsibilities

Accompaniment of three selected TTIs in piloting the new CBET training standards and cooperative training
Supporting the development of a network for exchange and joint learning, as well as establishing contacts with the local economy and providing apprentices with in-company training
Assistance with the design of curricula, exercises and examinations, qualification of teachers and planning the use of classes and workshops
Support of the organizational consultation process at the TTIs as well as the introduction of systematic controls and evaluations, quality assurance
Support in the development of needs-based short-term training programs for employees
Public relations support to increase the reputation of vocational training

Education Requirements

Knowledge and experience in technical training, preferably at a technical vocational school or similar training institution.


Good theoretical and practical knowledge in at least one of the areas of automotive mechatronics, body construction, industrial mechatronics
Proven experience in theoretical and practical technical vocational training, ideally according to Competency Based Education and Training (CBET) standards and experience in development cooperation
Knowledge about administrative procedures of a vocational school
