Afya Ziwani is a PATH led USAID funded project covering Homa Bay, Kisumu, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira counties. The purpose of this project is to provide key clinical support to the Government of Kenya national HIV response with the overall goal of increasing access and coverage for HIV prevention, care and treatment services towards achieving the “90-90-90” targets. Embedded in this project is the Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-Free, Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) initiative targeting adolescent girls and young women aged 10-24 in Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori counties. DREAMS provide comprehensive prevention services to help reduce HIV incidence amongst vulnerable AGYW.

PATH seeks to recruit a Finance Associate for Afya Ziwani project for a period of six (6) months. The Finance Associate will be responsible for timely day to day processing of the project’s financial transactions in compliance with USAID rules and PATH’s internal Policies and ensure reporting of field activity costs for the office assigned while maintaining high standards of stewardship and accountability. This position is based in Kisumu.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of 2 years relevant progressive experience preferable in a busy NGO set up.

Job Responsibilities

Perform monthly and ad hoc bank reconciliations activities.
Maintain updated records of all the field office financial transactions.
Reconcile all suppliers statements to PATH’s records and update the Finance Officer of any discrepancies.
Process monthly temporary staff payments through AREN payroll and submit the relevant payroll by product statutory schedules to the Country office.
Review and capture transactions/payments in Business world platform.
Review and process Mobile money (MPESA) payment requests in line with PATH mobile money payment guidelines.
Check validity of expenses and receipts/vouchers/claims presented for payment with respect to reasonability, allowability and allocability.

Education Requirements

Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
A minimum CPA II qualification or equivalent.


Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations.
Strong attention to detail.
High numeracy, sound technical skills and analytical approach to work.
Excellent problem-solving and initiative skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Good time management skills and ability to prioritize.
Proficiency in Ms Office applications especially word and excel.
