Organisational Setting and Reporting

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. UN Habitat is currently making enhancements to the information and knowledge platforms to support efficient information sharing, and knowledge reuse. The Unit is also undertaking preliminary requirements for the implementation of Unite Workspace and would like to hire a staff member to assist both projects under the following terms of reference;

Experience Requirements

Three years of progressive experience in Information and
Knowledge Management Systems including Content, and Archives Administration is required.

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Working knowledge of other UN official languages is an asset.

Job Responsibilities

1.Support the use and implementation of recommended improvements of the Organization Intranet Habnet and the partners platform Urban Gateway platforms for information, knowledge sharing services, monitoring and evaluating their success;

2.Evaluate different categories on Habnet and suggest areas for enhancement based on statistical data.

3.Implement minor enhancements of Habnet as agreed.

4.Carryout an analysis of the Urban Gateway partners portal and suggest areas for improvement

5.Implement minor enhancements on the Urban Gateway as agreed.

6.Manage content on the Urban Gateway by ensuring correct postings in conformity with documents categorization, including the social media.

7.Carryout research and post documents on the Urban Gateway

8.Compile and disseminate the twice weekly Urban Gateway Newsletter.

9.Keep content of both platforms up to date, upload new materials, track and report on platform usage and views or hits;

10.Provide support on information and knowledge products including tools to users of the platform;

11.Assist in cleaning up the current shared drive according to agreed procedure.

12.Support the appraisal of records on the shared drive and disposal of the same according to the retention policy.

13.Undertake other relevant duties as required.

Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required. A Diploma or Post-Secondary training in Information science, Records Management or a related Information Management field desired. Information and Knowledge Management Systems including Content, and Archives Administration is desirable.
