Position Title: Truck Driver - All Interested Applicants

Duties
Basic Function of the Position:

Position serves as the Diplomatic Courier Escort supporting Regional Courier Operations from the Frankfurt Regional Diplomatic Courier Division (FRDCD). Nairobi is a hub that provides courier operations for nine (9) posts in Africa. The incumbent supports these regional operations and also serves as the classified pouch clerk for the Embassy; preparing outbound pouches, receiving inbound material and distributing that material and ensuring accountability using the pouch module in the Integrated Logistics Management System (ILMS). Although this is a Diplomatic Security (DS) operation, the position is supervised by the Nairobi Regional Diplomatic Courier Hub Supervisor (NRDCH). A Top Secret Clearance is required.

Experience Requirements

Two years of experience driving heavy transport trucks and/or water trucks required and must have a valid Kenyan driver’s license Class B, C, E.

Job Responsibilities

Position operates a variety motor vehicle including large bowser trucks in the transport and delivery of water/diesel fuel and large freight hauling trucks for supplies. Incumbent assists Trades helpers/Warehousemen if assigned, in the filling of water/fuel tanks, or loading/unloading cargo. Incumbent works under the direct supervision and guidance of the FSN-08 Maintenance Supervisor.

Education Requirements

Completion of Secondary School

English Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing is required (This may be tested).

Kiswahili Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing is required.

Skills

Job holder must have good knowledge of Kenyan traffic laws and be familiar with traffic patterns in and around Nairobi.
Must be able to communicate using radio/cell phone
Must be able to prime a water pump after delivery and filling of water tank
Must be able to lift heavy materials for short periods of time while loading and unloading.
Must have basic knowledge of MS Word and Outlook, and able to write e-mails.

Must be able to work in various adverse conditions such as tight or enclosed spaces, on ladders at various heights, and in temperature extremes, indoors or outdoors to complete work assignments

Job holder must be knowledgeable on vehicles operations and maintenance procedures, and

Job holder must have knowledge of radio operational procedures for responding to vehicles emergencies.
